Job role: Commercial Underwriter Salary: 30,000-45,000 Location: Thurmaston Are you passionate about analyzing risk and making strategic decisions? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for a commercial underwriter to join my client based in Thurmaston. My client are growing at an incredible rate and this position is high profile in the organisation and there is lots of potential to progress. Responsibility for the ‘day to day’ management of a number of multi-million pound delegated authority arrangements, including the production of performance MI, dealing with internal and external referrals, general queries, system and rating updates, adjustments and MTAs as a Commercial underwriter Undertaking detailed market analysis to ensure that our proposition is relevant and maintains a competitive edge whilst delivering positive outcomes for the insurer and customer as a commercial underwriter Implementing controls in order to ensure that risks are bound and claims handled in line with the binder / underwriting guidelines and that all other binder requirements are met. Implementing system updates, changes and new proposition builds as a commercial underwriter Participating in binder renewals and performance review meetings and occasional involvement in client meetings. Obtaining and keeping up to date a detailed knowledge of the company’s insurance propositions including Policy Wordings, claim types and the changing landscape in terms of claims exposures and proposition. Requirements: At least 3 years’ experience in a commercial underwriter role. Some level of CII qualification desired Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail (both written and mathematical). Strong communication skills, the ability to develop strong working relationships with the sales team, other colleagues, and external stake holders / insurers. A strong working knowledge and ability in terms of Excel (ability to create formula and reports). Technical experience in general insurance, preferable liability insurance (for trades people).
