Senior to Principal Drainage/Civil Engineer Sheffield Salary : up to £60,000 – Dependent On Experience This is a well-established multidisciplinary environmental consultancy based in Sheffield, currently seeking an ambitious and driven Senior to Principal Drainage/Civil Engineer to join their team. This consultancy boasts a dedicated team of 70 professionals, with 8 technical experts specializing in flood risk and drainage. They take pride in their diverse portfolio of projects spanning various sectors, including commercial, residential, and renewable energy, with project values ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands of pounds. This role presents an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and growing team, providing crucial support to Project Managers in delivering flood risk and drainage strategies across a range of projects. They offer a hybrid working model, with flexibility to work from home two days a week. Role: As a Principal Drainage Engineer you will form a key part in the Water Services team working closely with the Company Directors in addition to managing your staff and the service delivery of the planning projects. Working within a small team of hydrologists and geological engineers you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of hydrological and geo-environmental services across a wide spectrum of sectors, for example: Rail, Commercial, Residential, Utilities, Defence, Renewables. Experience required: • They are seeking individuals ideally with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar role within a consultancy. • Experienced in proposal development, writing and management. • Engineering appraisal of developable land including feasibility designs. • Extensive experience in the adoption of sewers, highways and public open spaces. • Conversant with design software programmes such as AutoCAD, PDS, MX site and Windes. • Modelling of hydrological events (e.g. FEH, ReFH), 1D/2D modelling of tidal and fluvial events (e.g. HECRAS, Flood Modeller, MIKE11/21), modelling of surface water flooding, surface water drainage systems (e.g. MicroDrainage) and mapping (e.g. GIS). • Liaison and project management of external parties. • Consultation with utility companies and establishing contracts for gas, water, electric, telephone and cable supply to the developments. • Extensive experience in highway and drainage engineering for local authorities and private clients. • Experienced in road, sewer and car park design for housing, commercial, leisure & education developments using the latest computer software packages for developments across the UK. • Engineering design for plot external works including establishing plot levels, plot drainage, external levels, foundation design and retaining features. • Consultation with local highway and water authorities with regard to design standards and technical approvals. • Earthworks and volumetric design. • Flood compensation and volumetric design. • Driving licence
