Job SummaryThis growth and the increasing complexity of the group's financial and commodity risk management arrangements have created the opportunity for a new role as Tax Manager. The Tax Manager will report to the Group Reporting Manager and be responsible for group tax compliance and reporting. As a key member of the group finance function, the Tax Manager will participate in the planning and management of the group financing arrangements, communicating closely with site, treasury, and accounting roles.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, the jobholder must be able to perform each of the following duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned as required.- Ownership of the tax compliance process for the group.- Ownership of the tax advisor and HMRC relationship.- Managing the Corporate tax compliance process from data gathering to final submission. Ensuring the appropriate processes and internal controls are implemented and maintained to support the SAO certification requirements.- Responsibility for the quarterly tax instalment process and payment of electricity generating levy.- Responsible for tax accounting process from provisioning to presentation in shareholder and statutory reporting. Plan, review and post-tax journals for corporation tax and group relief balances. To manage workloads at quarter ends, the role will assist in some areas of group accounting.- Monitor tax developments relevant to the business, including opportunities for R&D tax credits and other investment credits supporting the group's decarbonization goals.- Advise group treasury of tax matters related to the group capital structure, including the impact of corporate interest restrictions and risk management mechanisms (financial and commodity derivatives).- Manage advice and tax due diligence on proposed transactions related to business development.- Oversee the PAYE and VAT processes to ensure accuracy. Support site staff on queries arising and manage advice when required. Provide periodic briefings to site staff on compliance requirements for these taxes.- Identifying and executing continuous improvements to accounting processes and procedures that influence tax and implement changes/improvements when required.- Preparation of briefings on tax matters to CFO and Audit Committee.Qualifications & Experience- Qualified CTA with 3yrs+ PQE- Experience in corporate tax matters for a large business.- Highly proficient in the use of integrated IT solutions, ERP, and Excel reporting skills.Competencies- Proven experience in technical accounting and writing.- Hands-on, self-motivated individual with strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.- Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.- Highly proficient in the use of integrated IT solutions, ERP, and Excel reporting skills.- Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a positive team environment.- Fosters an environment of teamwork and cooperation.- Ability to build effective working relationships across all areas of the business.- Strong commercial focus.Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
