The Role of the Painting and Decorating Tutor As a Painting and Decorating Tutor at HMPYOI Feltham, you will play a crucial role in helping learners develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons, tailoring your teaching to meet the needs of each individual learner. Your passion for education and dedication to learners' success will make you a valuable asset to our team. As the Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, learner-focused vocational training. You will work with groups of individuals, developing their practical and theoretical skills, including their adherence to industry expectations for health and safety. You will collaborate with industry professionals to provide an overview of employment opportunities and develop learners' aspirations. As part of the learning experience, young people will work on live projects within the estate. This role is full-time and permanent, requiring 37 hours per week over 4.5 days: Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a 1:00 pm finish on Fridays. You will work with a maximum of 8-10 learners at a time. Responsibilities of the Painting and Decorating Tutor • Develop and deliver high-quality lessons in Painting and Decorating. • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation. • Assess learner needs and develop individualised learning plans. • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback. • Support learners in achieving their Painting and Decorating qualifications. • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners. • Stay up to date with curriculum changes and best practices in education. Essential Qualifications and Experience for the Painting and Decorating Tutor • A teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 3, or a commitment to work towards this within a specified timeframe. • An Assessors Award such as TAQA or CAVA, or a commitment to work towards this within a specified timeframe. • At least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy. • Proven track record of effective teaching in your subject specialism. • Vocational competencies in Painting and Decorating. • Ability to gain and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
