About The Role Catering Assistant - Cardiff - 37.5 hours a week, Term Time only Salary: £12.82 per hour (Annual Salary £18,749.25, Full Year Equivalent £24,999) As a Catering Assistant at Birchwood Home and School you will plan and prepare meals for children with Autism and the team that support them. You will need to be aware of the Health and Safety guidelines and ensure that tasks are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner, always ensuring your own and others safety. A day in the life of a Catering Assistant with Orbis Education and Care Involves: Ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef; Working in a catering kitchen, making sandwiches, roll, toasted sandwiches, etc; Storing, preparing and serving food and beverage items supporting the chef on a daily basis; Cleaning and storing equipment, crockery, cutlery and utensils in a safe and hygienic manner; Daily cleaning of all areas of the kitchen in accordance with the home schedules and specifications, using appropriate equipment, chemicals and work methods; Ensuring documentation duties and procedures are maintained for efficiency and accuracy i.e. temperature of food and equipment; Observing and maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene, confidentiality, courtesy and consideration to all clients, colleagues and visitors to the home; Ensuring segregation and prompt removal of waste to designated collection points, in accordance with the company’s Safe Waste Handling Procedure; Ensuring all equipment is maintained and cleaned in the appropriate manner. Reporting any maintenance problems to the Manager as soon as any problems occur and keeping accurate records. To be a successful Catering Assistant with Orbis Education and Care, you’ll need: Food Hygiene Certificate - any level; Ideally you'll have experience in a care home setting, although desirable this is not essential.
