We have an opening for a temporary Computing & Helpdesk Advisor to join our client, a Milton Keynes based Education Institute. Job Title: Computing & Helpdesk Advisor Duration: Temporary until November (potential for extension) Salary: £25,742pa Location: Milton Keynes/Hybrid Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30 (17:00 finish on a Friday) Start Date: ASAP About The Role: A leading educational institution is looking for a dedicated Computing & Helpdesk Advisor to support their dynamic team over a peak period. This role involves handling customer interactions through multiple channels, including telephone, email, web chat, and social media. You will play a crucial part in recording and analysing customer interactions to identify trends and improve service delivery. Key Responsibilities: Customer Support: Own and resolve queries for both external and internal customers. Advisory Role: Offer guidance on the support required for third-party materials used within modules. Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support and feedback. Best Practices: Identify and share best practices with colleagues. Queue Management: Efficiently manage queues from various communication feeds. Liaison: Coordinate with other service areas on new and existing services/products. System Testing: Support the testing and implementation of new systems. Collaboration: Work effectively within the team and with other areas of the institution. Project Participation: Contribute to projects, pilots, and testing as required. Administration: Perform day-to-day administrative tasks, including reporting and analysis. Training: Assist in training and coaching new helpdesk members. Knowledge Sharing: Proactively share knowledge and information with colleagues. Skill Development: Maintain and develop skills to support your role. Education, Qualifications, and Training: Essential: Minimum GCSE standard of education, including English Language and Maths or equivalent. Due to the data-sensitive nature of the role, you will be subject to a DBS check. Desirable: Professional qualifications in IT or computing. Knowledge, Work, and Experience : Essential: Experience in a Helpdesk or Service Desk environment, ideally in Computing or IT support, or a customer-facing role. Desirable: Knowledge of distribution and dispatch processes. Experience working in higher education. Skills, Capabilities, and Qualities: Essential: Understanding of major operating systems, web browsers, and MS Office products. Ability to fault-find or provide workarounds for software issues. Capability to handle pressure and work efficiently. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism, especially when dealing with students and tutors under time constraints.
