Job Description: Geotechnical Engineer Salary: starting at £30,000 per annum DOE Job Overview: An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in geotechnical projects, ensuring quality and efficiency in all aspects of site investigations and design. Key Responsibilities: Design, supervise, and manage site investigations, including cost estimation and procurement of subcontractor services. Perform geotechnical design with a focus on slope stability, settlement, retaining structures, and reinforced earth. Oversee earthworks specification, design, and supervision. Prepare interpretative reports for geotechnical and related environmental projects. Provide line management and mentoring to junior technical staff. Prepare Health & Safety documentation and assist in the collation of project-related health and safety information. Attend site meetings, liaise with clients, and act as a primary contact for project-related communications. Qualifications / Experience / Skills: A degree in one of the Earth Sciences. At least 4 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 2 years in both geo-environmental fieldwork and geotechnical design/assessment (covering slope stability, settlement, retaining structures, earthworks, and reinforced earth). Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and occasionally away from home or during unsociable hours. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and team-working skills, fostering good relationships across all levels of the organization, clients, and contractors. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and client requests, with a proactive and positive approach. Proficiency in logging soil and rock according to current British Standards. Understanding of relevant UK regulatory guidance. Experience with software such as Holebase, CAD, QGIS, Slide, and Geo5 is an advantage (training will be provided if necessary). First Aid, Asbestos Awareness, and CSCS qualifications are beneficial (training available). Membership in the Geological Society (or a similar organization) with consideration for becoming Chartered. A full UK Driving License (Category B manual gears) is essential. Must demonstrate the right to work in the UK.
