Assistant Pig Farm Manager We are working with a highly reputable family farm that is seeking an Assistant Farm Manager for their 400 sow, indoor, farrow-to-finish unit. This opportunity has arisen due to an internal promotion. Role Overview: As the Assistant Farm Manager, you will collaborate with a team of 4 staff to manage the farm operations on alternate weekends and in the absence of the Farm Manager. Your role is crucial in maintaining high standards of animal care and farm efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Herd Management: Assist in managing the 400 sow herd, including serving and pregnancy testing. Team Leadership: Oversee staff in farrowing houses and weaner sections, ensuring high standards of care. Operational Efficiency: Organize and assist in the timely transfer and preparation of sows and piglets. Resource Management: Monitor and manage feed levels and farm equipment maintenance. Farm Maintenance: Ensure the farm operations are organized and tidy. The Candidate: Experience: Previous pig stockperson and/or farrowing experience is highly desirable. Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills. Mechanical Knowledge: A good mechanical aptitude is essential. Work Ethic: Demonstrates a fantastic work ethic. Driving License: Full UK Driving Licence is required. The Package: Salary: £28,000-£33,000 Accommodation: Beautiful 4-bedroom house provided. Training: Full training will be provided.
