EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW Our Water Quality & Environment Team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Biosecurity Officer. This is home based role. In your new role you be responsible for the implementing the Company’s biosecurity programme. You will also be responsible for the management and monitoring on invasive species. This work includes supporting the delivery of the companies WINEP investigations relating to INNS and NERC drivers, ensuring positive outcomes for the company and customers, and compliance with regulatory targets. You will also act as an ambassador for our work – using your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to engage customers, regulators and stakeholders with the positive steps we are taking to reduce the impact INNs have on the terrestrial and aquatic environments. Ensuring that STW is recognized as a high-profile champion, steward and leader for the natural environment. Some of your other key accountabilities will include: Leading on the delivery of our WINEP biosecurity implementation programme, including: Construction of wash down stations or similar facilities at out recreational reservoir sites Construction of appropriate biosecurity facilities at our operational sites (drying rooms, wheel washes etc) Training of staff in biosecurity Working alongside rd parties, training of recreational users in biosecurity Developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the above Provide advice to the business on biosecurity practice, and auditing of biosecurity implementation on operational sites Undertake ecological surveys relating to invasive species identification, and production of site management plants Produce reports for our regulators on our progress against statutory duties Managing a consultant led monitoring programme of INNS presence in our reservoirs Managing INNS management on our riparian land Dealing with customer complaints and queries relating to INNS Effectively influence the application of environmental legislation and associated Environment Agency policies relating to invasive species, by developing and maintaining links with environmental regulatory bodies and NGOs at regional level. GIS management of INNS records WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE To be successful in this role it is essential that you have an Excellent knowledge of biosecurity theory and invasive species management along with good Practical knowledge and experience of biosecurity implementation Additionally, it would be desirable if you have experience of working with NGOs and management of volunteers and have a good knowledge of the main functions and regulators of the water industry.
