Cloud Engineer (Удаленно)

About the company and the project:

A leading online bookstore and market services for educational institutions in the United States is looking for a Cloud Engineer.

The company's product is a full-service online solution that allows you to save significantly on textbooks and other learning materials, as well as give administrators and teachers control over the entire process. Since its inception, the service has saved more than $161 million for university and college students.

You'll be part of a close-knit team and work remotely from anywhere in the world.

Your tasks on the position:

• Works to insure high availability and stability of our systems.
• Collaborates closely with engineering teams across VitalSource on deployment, uptime and availability issues.
• Provides technical support services, including regular rotations as the systems engineer on call.
• Monitors production systems to ensure maximum up-time and performance by utilizing monitoring software and regular systems audits and review.
• Manages system resources to optimize performance, response times, and uptimes for global customers.
• Provides initial assessment for production issues, including decisions on issue escalation.
• Provides expertise in operation and support of Cloud Systems, Databases, and our Kubernetes platform.
• Explore new technologies and practices to keep the team innovative and competitive with industry best practices.

Mandatory requirements:

• 3 years+ experience designing, developing, and delivering Cloud infrastructure solutions for enterprise-scale app dev and integration projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
• Russian B1+
• English B2+

Will be a plus:

• 3 years+ experience designing, building, and supporting multi-regional IaaS/PaaS solutions on GCP/Google Cloud Platform or AWS/Amazon.
• 3 years+ experience in cloud automation, configuration management, and deployment of enterprise-scale infrastructures as code (IaC) using Terraform, Python, and Puppet.
• Experience scripting or programming languages, preferably Python, Go, or Bash.
• Proficient knowledge of the security processes, standards and issues involved in multi-tier cloud or hybrid applications, including relevant data privacy and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with principles of network, application, and information security.
• Experience with one or more container platforms such as Kubernetes or Docker.
• Understanding of software engineering, including DevOps, CI/CD pipeline, test automation, environment, configuration automation, etc.
