EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW As our Contracts Technician you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of STS’s Supply Chain Contractors and in reducing operational and business costs. Day to day you’ll be involved with the management of STS’s strategic Framework suppliers that form a major part of supplier expenditure. You’ll also be responsible for identifying, checking and reviewing new suppliers, including routine compliance checks and for one-off purchases in support of a wide range of goods, works and services. Additionally, you will support in managing STS’s contracts with key clients including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the Coal Authority (TCA) and a range of public and private sector Customers. While supporting the Supplier contracts Lead to ensure that supplier contracts are aligned with Customer contracts. The other key accountabilities of the role are: Receive, process and approve supplier payment applications for key framework contracts and detailed checking of rates and prices for supplier contracts. Advise and support the business with framework and spot-purchases and ensure that the STS and Supplier businesses are working and communicating efficiently. Monitor supplier performance to quality, time and budgetary KPIs, deputising for the Supplier Contracts Manager at internal and external meetings and representing STS at meetings with suppliers. Identify opportunities for cost and efficiency savings and deliver the annually agreed savings targets and meet the objective of “making buying easy” within STS for all business purchasers. Engage with STS staff and Managers at all levels including Strategic Leaders While offering support to full, open, and frank discussions with suppliers when there are disputes and issues which need to be resolved for STS or STS Customers. Other accountabilities but not limited to: Monitor suppliers credit ratings, distribute H&S Bulletins, set suppliers up on SAP Ariba, assisting with SAP Ariba Queries, monitor Service Manager’s inbox and support with accruals. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE To succeed in this role, you will have the ability to demonstrate good business acumen/commercial awareness and excellent numerical, written, and verbal communication skills. You’ll also have high competence in MSOffice applications particularly MS Excel and MSWord with the be comfortable challenging Senior Internal and External stakeholders. Additionally, it would be desirable to have knowledge of standard forms of contract including NEC/ forms and strong supplier and/or contract management background, in a contracting service environment. As travel is required, you’ll have to hold a full driving license. The right skills and experience are important.
