We consistently deliver strong growth and exceptional returns, recruiting only the very best and empowering them to deliver.General information about the role:This role translates the strategic direction of our portfolios of business into actions that support local teams in providing flexible and profitable underwriting solutions to our broker partners.Key responsibilities:Monitor and provide thought leadership on trends, emerging issues and exposures.Develop and execute effective strategies that demonstrate an understanding of how our products drive value for our customers and fit within their markets. Develop plans to drive profit, identify growth opportunities (product, industry, or segment), and identify/address threats to our business.Act as a strategic partner to the MD and Commercial Directors and manage the interaction with the European Underwriting Team. Lead product development (in close collaboration with other departments) in order to create a competitive and profitable product suite in line with customer needs and covering multiple distribution channels.Build and maintain broker relationships, and monitor product results to develop and execute ideas for improving productivity, profitability and pricing practices.Contribute to product promotion and webinars across the different distribution channelsAct as the referral point for larger more complex risksManage, attract and retain a team of technical underwriters / product heads that can deliver high quality performance.Ensure compliance with all Underwriting controls and regulatory needsRequirements:Specialist knowledge of insurance products and services to meet complex client needsIn-depth experience in private and commercial lines of businessAdvanced knowledge of portfolio management, underwriting, product underwriting, product development, risk selection and pricing experienceStrong knowledge of performance analytics, profit and cost drivers, technology enablers, and decision support toolsExtensive knowledge of underwriting data and historical performance of sectorsUnderstanding of the market, brokers and competition and the effects of external influences and how these should shape a portfolioStrong people management experience including development of talent, multi-level leadership skillsStrong influencing, collaboration, conflict resolution, and presentation skillsUse of data to assess and make underwriting decisions, both case by case & portfolioFluent in English and Dutch and/or French#LI-MS1Work with amazing people and be part of a unique culture
