THE COMPANY My client are a leading M&E Contractor who have been operating for almost 100 years. Specialising mainly in New Build Projects, their Company turnover has recently surpassed £400,000,000. Their project portfolio is vast, ranging from High end blue chip commercial buildings, along with Data Centres, Retail, Education and more across London & the Home Counties and Europe and range in value from £1,000,000 - £100,000,000. Examples of recent projects include: Google HQ, Deutsche Bank HQ and Barclays Bank HQ. THE ROLE – ELECTRICAL TESTER Monday – Friday / 40 hour week They are seeking an Electrical Tester to join their team. The Testers will be working in large teams on their Commercial sites and could be on these projects for up to 2 years. There will be a direct path to achieve AP status within the business. Duties will include: Electrical System Testing : Conduct comprehensive testing of electrical systems including wiring, circuits, and panels to ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes. Inspection and Verification : Inspect electrical installations to verify they are installed correctly and function as designed, identifying any deficiencies or issues that need to be addressed. Equipment Testing : Test electrical equipment and components such as transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and outlets to ensure they are operating correctly. Documentation and Reporting : Maintain detailed records of tests conducted, including results, any issues identified, and corrective actions taken. Prepare and submit testing reports as required. Safety Compliance : Ensure all electrical testing activities comply with safety regulations and standards, implementing safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries. Coordination with Contractors : Work closely with electrical contractors, engineers, and other construction team members to coordinate testing activities and ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the building. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics : Identify and diagnose electrical faults or issues, providing recommendations for repair or replacement of faulty components. Quality Assurance : Perform quality assurance checks to ensure the electrical systems meet the specified design and performance criteria. Calibration and Maintenance of Testing Equipment : Regularly calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements. Compliance Verification : Verify that all electrical work complies with relevant codes and standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) or local building codes. Training and Mentoring : Provide guidance and training to junior testers or apprentices, helping to develop their skills and knowledge in electrical testing. Client Communication : Communicate with clients or project managers to provide updates on testing progress, discuss any issues found, and recommend solutions. Energy Efficiency Testing : Conduct tests to assess the energy efficiency of electrical systems, suggesting improvements to reduce energy consumption. Emergency Systems Testing : Test emergency systems such as backup generators, fire alarms, and emergency lighting to ensure they are operational and meet safety standards. Final Commissioning : Participate in the final commissioning of the electrical system, ensuring that all systems are fully operational and ready for use before the building is handed over to the client.
