Vortex-CoLab is a growing collaborative laboratory that brings together academia and industry partners in an innovation framework to drive technology transfer in cyber-physical systems and cybersecurity. We are embarking on a journey that brings together cutting-edge research and engineering to create world-class demonstrators and proofs of concepts to drive high levels of software and hardware assurance. To support this journey, we are actively seeking an Embedded Systems Research Scientist to join our team.WHO?VORTEX-CoLab is looking for exceptional Embedded Systems Research Scientists with a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar (Embedded Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics) and that gathers the following requirements: Embedded software development in Rust or C/C++ (4+ years); Embedded hardware development using high level synthesis tools (SmartHLS, Vivado or Libero) and familiarity with FPGAs (e.g. Polarfire or Kintex); Knowledge of the RISC-V ecosystem, including experience with open IP cores and blocks or bare-metal software; Open to participating in RISC-V working groups and contributing to open-source projects; Knowledge of the latest embedded and real-time systems technology trends; Scientific publications in refereed conferences or journals. WHAT?As an Embedded Systems Research Scientist at Vortex-CoLab, you will work with a cross-functional team of other researchers and engineers to support R&D projects related to embedded and real-time systems, including embedded microservices, virtualization and orchestration. As part of the team, you will develop proofs of concept and contribute to our innovation roadmap.How you can expect to fill your days: Act as an effective enabler of culture change, providing multiple perspectives and out-of-the-box thinking; Leverage your scientific and technology expertise in embedded systems; Help turn ideas into possible commercial or competitive funding opportunities by scoping and writing proposals; Interact with internal and external partners and clients to provide vision and drive ground-breaking projects through to successful prototypes; Disseminate key findings at leading international conferences or journals and produce white papers.
