General Building Maintenance Engineer Millom Competitive Salary + Company van & benefits A well respected construction and facilities services provider currently engaged on a long term framework with His Majesty's Prison & Probation service is seeking to expand their team with the addition of an Electrician to work on a Ministry of Justice scheme in rural Lancashire. You'd be working as part of a team delivering facilities and estate management services within the estate and this team plays an important part in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance works are executed in a safe, compliant and timely manner. As a skilled and experienced General Building Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for carrying out the following to the highest standards and to the agreed method statements: You will be responsible for: Raising, updating and closing remedial tasks within the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system. Ensuring all critical parts are available for statutory tasks. Carrying out general and semi-skilled maintenance activities. Undertake general tasks associated with security systems such as CCTV and alarm systems. Carrying out monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, with regular checks on fire hydrants and fire hoses. Completing RCD testing on a quarterly basis. Carrying out checks on Misting Units. Undertaking fire door maintenance activities. Conducting flushing and tap temperature tests as required by the water risk assessment. Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks. Checking and testing smoke vents as required. Any other duties commensurate with the role. How you’ll deliver the role: Completing all activities to a high standard and in a professional manner Proactively using the technology and systems provided in order to support the client's compliance and contractual obligations Communicating clearly, effectively, and professionally with team members, management, and client representatives Outstanding problem-solving skills Working with attention to detail and strong organisational skills We want to hear from you if you have: Good IT skills Experience in Fire Door Maintenance, Fire Extinguisher Maintenance, Fire Alarm Core Points, Emergency Lighting, RCD, Water Temperature Testing Previous experience of working as part of a team, and along other Engineers Ideally you will be qualified in multiple areas of maintenance as outlined above with experience in general building maintenance. Additionally, it would be desirable if you have experience of working within a custodial environment with basic Health and Safety knowledge and exposure to building and system compliance, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
