Legal Officer - Temp circa 12 weeks - £29.00 per hour - London/Hybrid Healthcare membership organisation and trade union is seeking an experienced Legal Officer to support their Legal Services Team. This is a temporary role to start ASAP for circa 12 weeks and will pay £29.00 per hour PAYE. The Legal Officer will provide legal advice and representation to members in regulatory law proceedings. Main duties and responsibilities include: To represent members in respect of regulatory proceedings To undertake advocacy (where applicable) and occasionally instruct advocates in respect of regulatory proceedings including charges of alleged professional misconduct To provide advice and representation to members in Regulatory matters To manage a caseload and, in conjunction with lawyers and support staff within the department, work as part of the regulatory law team and the wider Legal Department To refer cases of members charged with criminal offences to private agent solicitors, and to manage those files as may be necessary To advise and support members on all issues of regulatory law, together with other aspects of the law in particular professional conduct matters, but also in relation to Criminal Injuries Compensation claims, criminal cases, Ill Health Retirement and NHS Injury Benefit Pensions, and health law matters generally To ensure the delivery of quality and cost-effective legal services to members, demonstrating the efficient use of resources, in accordance with the terms of membership contract, professional standards and departmental strategic objectives The ideal Legal Officer will have the following knowledge, skills and experience: Law degree, or equivalent - Qualified solicitor, barrister, CILEX Fellow or CILEX Lawyer Expert knowledge of either regulatory, criminal, employment, public law or civil litigation Experience of working within a team, and ensuring that all internal operating protocols and customer service standards are met Ability to advise and represent members on all aspects of regulatory law Ability to draft legal pleadings and other documents Previous experience of working for a regulatory body/trade union ONLY SHORT LISTED APPILCANTS WILL BE CONTACTED
