Role Description: Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and develop the Skills for Life (SfL) programme to align with service priorities and objectives. Curriculum Planning: Support curriculum planning by inputting courses into the EBS system. Teaching & Assessment: Plan, deliver, assess, evaluate, and manage SfL classroom activities to maximize learner success. Staff Management: Line manage established and sessional teaching staff within the curriculum area. Teaching Responsibilities: Instruction: Teach an agreed SfL programme of at least 10 hours per week plus 5 hours of preparation. Learner Outcomes: Set and monitor learning outcomes, assess progress, and provide feedback. Support: Offer pre-course and on-course information and advice to support learner progression. Administration: Ensure proper enrollment, attendance tracking, and reporting of learner achievements. Quality Assurance: Conduct observations, learning walks, and follow-up action plans for teaching quality. Inclusion: Address ESOL and literacy needs and incorporate digital skills in learning. Other Duties: Assessment & Reporting: Prepare, assess, and mark learner work; provide necessary reports for exams. Curriculum Development: Contribute to designing and managing forward-looking SfL curricula. Resource Management: Ensure effective use of resources within budget. Data Analysis: Monitor attendance, retention, and learner outcomes to inform planning and recruitment. Staff Recruitment: Assist in recruiting and supporting SfL staff. Documentation: Ensure timely completion of course documentation. Professional Development: Support continuous professional development for staff. Meetings & Initiatives: Lead and contribute to team and service meetings and initiatives. Quality Improvement: Actively contribute to quality development and improvement plans. Policies & Compliance: Adhere to and promote council policies on equality, diversity, health and safety, data protection, and other regulations. Additional Duties: Undertake temporary duties as needed, aligning with the council’s climate and ecological emergency declaration. About You: Qualifications: Degree or equivalent Level 4 qualification, Level 5 teaching/training qualification (or commitment to obtain one), and management training (or willingness to undergo). Knowledge & Experience: Comprehensive experience in adult learning and Ofsted inspections. Team management and staff development in changing environments. Working with disengaged adults and successful curriculum planning. Minimum four years of teaching/training experience in Adult Learning. Implementation of quality assurance frameworks. Use of management information systems for planning and performance monitoring. Skills & Abilities: Strategic planning and innovative service development. Excellent communication and report-writing skills. Organizational and time management skills. IT proficiency for performance reports and analysis. Personal Style & Behaviors: Effective relationship building and team collaboration. Enthusiastic, innovative, and learner-focused. High level of personal responsibility and drive. Commitment to personal development and sharing knowledge. Understanding of council functions and corporate objectives. Integrity, confidentiality, and respect for others. This role requires a dynamic individual capable of leading and managing the Skills for Life programme to enhance learner success and meet organizational objectives, while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
