We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.The role As our Actuarial Technician you will support the business and our customers in line with the objectives of the department and carry out work in a manner that supports Phoenix’s TCF focus and culture.Please note actuarial study support is NOT available with this role.The successful applicant will be, but isn’t limited to: Analysing output from actuarial models, to help calculate and populate out-of-model adjustments Preparing balance sheet, P&L and other ad-hoc reporting templates for use in Solvency II reporting Working on out-of-model adjustments for Solvency II SCR reporting and proxy modelling Working closely with qualified actuaries, trainees and other finance professionals to ensure timely and accurate production of reporting templates Working on process driven reports, demonstrating attention to detail and being “Right first time” Setting out and maintaining high level of controls for audit purposes Proactively contribute to the feedback culture, supporting own and others’ development; Fully participate in team meetings and individual 1:1s. You will collaborate closely with a wide range of teams and colleagues across the whole Group and offer growth, stretch and responsibility to the right person to really make a difference at Phoenix Group.What are we looking for?Essential: Actuarial Science Degree or numerate subject; Experience in an actuarial/finance role; Strong analytical skills backed up by a questioning attitude and a desire to build understanding; Able to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually; Committed to taking ownership and accountability for their work; A confident communicator who is delivery-focused, able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues in verbal and written exchanges; Desirable: Knowledge of Solvency II reporting would be an advantage; Making good progress through actuarial exams with good understanding of actuarial concept as would be expected through experience gained; Ability to appropriately prioritise work and raise issues in good time to enable solutions to be found; A solid level of IT skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Teams.
