If you have experience working with secondary age children and you want to take that experience into a secondary school, then a cover supervisor role may be the right job for you! You could be a youth worker, a higher-level teaching assistant, a sports coach or overseas trained teacher looking for a new challenge. A cover supervisor is a classroom-based role covering for a qualified teacher in their absence. You will not need any subject specialism although if you have it will be a benefit. You will offer support across all areas of the curriculum and with age groups from year 7 to year 13. You will deliver pre-planned lesson material and supervise behaviour during class whilst ensuring that a safe and inclusive learning environment is maintained. You will not be expected to plan, prepare, mark or assess work. For those candidates with a passion for working with children but without the qualifications this can be an ideal role.
